Introduction

National Accreditation Board for Education and Training is a constituent Board of Quality Council of India. National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) in recent years has enlarged its scope of activities and is trying to match its progress with Slogan of QCI i.e. "Creating an Eco System for Quality". With the growing needs of competent personnel and credible vocational training courses in various industry sectors, NABET has been rapidly expanding its scope of services to cater to the needs of the industry. NABET has established a mechanism for the accredited certification of Educational organizations, vocational training organizations and for accreditation of skill certification bodies..

NABET is offering accreditation program for Quality School Governance in the Country, with a view to provide framework for the effective management and delivery of the holistic education program aimed at overall development of students.
Three distinct verticals in various areas have been formulated to provide focused strategic direction to the activities of the Board. These are:

Nabet Policy

National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) shall strive to provide services to its customers in accordance with the national and international standard norms & guidelines. It is committed to provide fair and equal opportunity to all the applicants with highest regard to impartiality, transparency, integrity and confidentiality. It is essential for all levels of our organization to strive for excellence and continual improvement. NABET Board will continue to strive for the international recognition of its accreditation schemes through international and regional forums like IAF, PAC etc. and through bilateral and multilateral recognition arrangements

Quality Council of India met the financial needs of NABET from the pool money received from the Government
and Industry during formation of the NABET Board. Present needs of NABET is met by the fee received from the
various accreditation schemes/programs operated from NABET

Jaxay Shah

(CHAIRPERSON, QCI)

 Mr Jaxay Shah is the Chairperson of the Quality Council of India (QCI), an autonomous body of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. He is also the Founder and Chairman Managing Director of the Savvy Group of Companies, a professional construction conglomerate. Furthermore, he is the former Chairman of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), the apex body of private Real Estate developers in India.

As the Chairperson of QCI, he is working towards improving the quality of goods and services to help improve the quality of life of India’s 140 crore citizens. Under his leadership, QCI is working in multiple sectors such as healthcare, education, trade & commerce, energy, water, sanitation etc and engaging with 50+ central governments, state governments, and public bodies. Mr. Shah has been taking significant steps to take the quality message to the grassroots through initiatives such as the Gunvatta Sankalp in states, Quality City with the emerging cities along with Sarpanch Samvad – working with grassroots leaders to permeate the idea of quality. Additionally, he represents QCI, as a Promoter Director (Founding Member) on the board of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), an open network for all the players who can sell or enable selling in an e-commerce setup.

Under his leadership, CREDAI joined the ‘National Mission of Housing for All’ by launching more than 375 Affordable Housing Projects comprising 250,000 units by CREDAI member developers across the country. 

Mr Shah stands as an advisor and mentor at the PharmEasy Accelerator Program, which offers 1 lakh+ medicine and health products across various categories across the country. He is a Promotional Director of Kensville Golf and Country Club, Savvy Swaraaj Sports Academy, and a trustee of LAA (LD College of Engineering Alumni Association) as well as JYOT (NGO). 

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geo-technology and Foundation Engineering from L.D. College of Engineering, Gujarat University. 

Mr. Shah is an environment and sustainability crusader and is committed towards eco-friendly construction using renewable technology for a better planet.

Mr. Rajesh Maheshwari

(SECRETARY GENERAL,(I/c), QCI)

Mr. Rajesh Maheshwari is the current Secretary General,(I/c)  of the Quality Council of India (QCI), an autonomous organization of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and has taken charge on 29 September 2023. He heads the organization which has the mandate to improve the quality of products & processes in manufacturing across industry sectors, and services especially in conformity assessment, healthcare, education, skills, capacity building etc. In addition, he is the CEO of National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), one of the constituent boards of QCI, since Aug 2019.

He holds a Masters in Chemistry and MBA and has almost 3 decades of experience in quality assurance & management, industrial manufacturing as well as in standards, technical regulations, accreditation & conformity assessment. He has been working in area of accreditation in India from the initial years of NABL since 1999. Mr. Maheshwari had joined QCI in 2012 and was responsible for accreditation activities in NABCB. He subsequently led Project Planning & Implementation Division (PPID) in QCI as Director wherein he was responsible for Project Conceptualization, Planning & Management and had executed various projects for QCI, primarily for the Central Government Ministries.

He had earlier worked for National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL), then under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) for more than a decade, managing the Testing and Medical Laboratory accreditation programs of NABL. Prior to this, he had worked in Specialty Chemicals Manufacturing Industry for about a decade.

Shri P.R. Mehta

(NABET CHAIRPERSON)

Mr. Premendra Raj Mehta is former President of Council of Architecture, India. COA is a statutory Body created by Government of India under the provision of Architects Act 1972, and it is charged with the responsibility to regulate the standards of Education and Practice of Architects, besides registering the Architects. Mr Mehta is currently a member of Technology Sub Mission of Housing for All mission of Government of India.

Mr Mehta is former member of Research Council of Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee ( CSIR-CBRI), Lalit Kala Academy and Chairman of All India Board of Architecture, Town Planning & Applied Art Education of AICTE. He has been member of National Board of Accreditation, GATE Committee of Ministry of Education and several other forums concerned with development of higher Education in India. He has also been a member of Expert Committee of Ministry of Commerce on Services.

Mr Mehta has represented India at WTO and has participated in several Bilateral and Multilateral negotiations on Market Access for professionals. He has also presented a paper of Recognition of Qualification at WTO, Geneva. He has spoken, as Key Note Speaker, at several national and International forums on subject of Architectural Education, Higher Education, Urban Design and Urban Management, General Agreement on Trade in Services, Professional Practice etc.

Extensively travelled, Mr Mehta is in active practice since 1979 and he is the Architect for the Redevelopment of Connaught Place, New Delhi. He holds post graduate qualification in Urban Design and is an Alumnus of School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. He has been a Visiting Professor at his alma mater for over two decades.

Mr Mehta is also Director of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) known for Jaipur Foot. Over 2 million disabled persons across the globe are the beneficiary of the assistive devices provided by BMVSS, free of cost. Mr Mehta is a recipient of Helen Keller Award for service to Disabled.

Prof (Dr) Varinder S Kanwar

 (NABET CEO)

Dr. Varinder S Kanwar holds Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, M.E. in Structural Engineering, Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development and BE in Civil Engineering. He carries more than 27 years of Research; Teaching and Administrative Experience. He is a fellow of Institution of Engineers and senior member of IEEE, Life Member of ISTE, ICI, IGS, IRC.Dr. Kanwar holds academic and administrative positions in institutes like NIT Hamirpur, Government Polytechnic Hamirpur, Thapar University Patiala and Punjab Technical University Jalandhar. He served as the founding Registrar and further Vice Chancellor of Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh (NAAC A+). He is member of various inspection committees convened to grant affiliation to the University and to assess compliance with regulatory norms, He is also on the panel of Board of Studies – Civil Engineering of various Universities. Nominated as non-official member of State Level Working Committee – Town and Country Planning Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh. He served as Chairperson as well as member in NAAC Peer Assessment Teams. He is actively involved in industrial consultancy and technology development to provide suitable sustainable solutions in problems areas such as waste minimization, reuse or recycle of waste generated.Dr. Kanwar has written 8 books, 80 research papers in national and international journals, 17 research papers in conferences, supervised 3 M.E. and 8 Ph.D. scholars, filed 10 patents out of which 3 are granted. He has completed 7, and continuing 2, Government funded research projects of more than 4 crore INR. His expertise research areas include Health Monitoring of Structures, Sustainable Environment and Alternate Construction Materials using Industrial Waste

Dr Kanwar was felicitated by Government of Himachal Pradesh for “Excellence in Promotion of Environment Conservation and Sustainable Development” in the year 2021 and 2019. He is the recipient of “Time 2 Leap awards under the category Best Professor of the Year – Socio Environment Enterprises” awarded by Hon’ble Minister of State – MSME, Government of India in 2021. He was awarded as “Outstanding Concrete Technologist 2020” by Indian Concrete Institute and Ultratech Cement Ltd. Dr Kanwar is recipient of National Builder Award by Rotary Club of India in the year 2018.National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET), is a statutory board of Quality Council of India (QCI), an autonomous body set-up by Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), Government of India (GoI). The Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) is nodal ministry for QCI. NABET has 4 divisions namely as: Formal Education Excellence Division (FEED), Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), LEAN Manufacturing and Skill Training & Certification (STC). It plays a pivotal role at the national level in propagating, adoption and adherence to quality standards in education, environment protection, skill training and certification etc. that have significant bearing in improving the quality of life and well-being of the citizens of India.

Mr. A K Jha

(Senior Director, NABET )

Mr. A K Jha is working with ‘Quality Council of India (QCI)’ since 2015 and continuing at NABET- a constituent board of QCI as Senior Director, and leading the GOI mandated accreditation schemes for EIA consultants, Exploration & Mining Consultants, Ground Water Consultants and Forest clearance consultants.
He has done his Bachelor degree in Science (Geology Honors) and Master’s degree in Geology from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Having 33+ years of experience in the field of Prospecting/Exploration, Mining and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) studies. By profession a Geologist extensively worked for Exploration and Mining Plan and Environmental Impact Assessment studies involved in Mining and Thermal Power Plant (TPP) projects.
He has worked with premier organizations like viz. Coal India Limited for 17 years and then with INDORAMA Group in Indonesia for 8 years in the corporate project Planning division for the Coal and other mineral resources, their commercial evaluation and mining for captive Thermal Power Projects. Also worked in countries like, Nigeria, Senegal, Mozambique, South Africa and Tanzania etc. for acquisition and development of Mining projects for the company.
He consistently looks forward to the opportunities to expand/interact with the multidisciplinary professionals to meet the successful business objectives of QCI and work effectively with the team.

Dr. Aradhana Chopra

Dr. Aradhana Chopra is currently working in the capacity of Director & Head – STS and MSME Division at NABET, Quality Council of India (QCI). She bears more than 25 years of experience in various sectors including 1) Educational Administration in All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Delhi (an autonomous body under Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) 2) Academic Administration in Malviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (An Institute of National Importance, Govt. of India) 3) Director in a Premier Engineering College (affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi), 4) Prof. & Dean, School of Civil Engineering in a Private University in Haryana. Besides this, she also has the experience of teaching & Research in Universities & Engineering Institutes and has guided B.Tech, and M. Tech scholars under her supervision.

Dr. Aradhana Chopra has also been appointed as a M.Tech & PhD evaluator /examiner by Jamia Millie Islamia University. In QCI, she has served in the capacity of Director & Head HR & Admin, Department and Chief Ethics Officer(CVO) for more than 5 years.
