NABET : Committees

The Board identifies the needs of forming various committees and also appoints the same. The Board also approves the terms of reference of these committees.

At present the Board appoints the following committees –

    1. Accreditation Committee

      Terms of Reference:  

      • To take decision of granting, suspending and withdrawing accreditation based on the assessment and other reports presented to this committee by the Director of the Board. It also advises the Board on issues related to their decision of certification/accreditation.

      • To take decisions on complaints/ appeals received by the Director of the Board.  

      • Provides suggestion towards changing needs of accreditation/ certification activities if any.

      • Any other issues related to effective functioning of the Board.

      Composition:

      Accreditation committee shall have chairman. Number of personnel in Accreditation Committee depends on area for which Accreditation Committee is functioning. Chairman of the Accreditation Committee shall be appointed by the Chairman of the Board. The Chairman of the Board while appointing the Chairman of the Committee shall keep in consideration the nature of the activities of the committees and will take the opinion of Director of the Board.

      Director of the Board shall propose to Chairman the names of the potential members of the Accreditation Committee. The Director shall prepare the list of potential members from the nominations received from the Member. The Chairman of the Board shall approve the appointment of members of the committee.

    2. Technical Committee

      Terms of Reference:  

      • The Technical Committee shall provide inputs and directions in the design of criteria related to the schemes of NABET.

      • The Technical Committee shall also provide inputs towards development of guidelines to support interpretation and implementation of requirements of criteria related to particular scheme.

      • To undertake all other technical activities related with criteria development and implementation including assessing the need for any change.

      Composition:

      Technical committee shall have chairman. Number of personnel in Technical Committee depends on area for which Technical Committee is functioning. Chairman of the Technical Committee shall be appointed by the Chairman of the Board. The Chairman of the Board while appointing the Chairman of the Committee shall keep in consideration the nature of the activities of the committees and will take the opinion of Director of the Board.

      The chairman of a Technical Committee shall necessarily be a Technical Expert belonging to the concerned field.

      The Chairman of the Technical Committee shall decide the names of the members based on technical expertise needed for effective working of the Committee.

    3. Appeals Committee

      Terms of Reference:

      • To give an impartial hearing to the appeals/ complaints received.
      • To ask for facts and figures from all the interested parties in order to arrive at a logical  conclusion.
      • To give recommendations to the Chairman of the Board for necessary action to discharge the appeal as well as the need for preventive actions if any.

      Composition:

      The Appeal committee is headed by one of the Board Members nominated by the Chairman of the Board. The nominated head of the Appeal Committee is allowed to take two members out of the assessors, staff or experts of the Board and is also allowed to invite other outside members as necessary to discharge the appeal. The Chairman shall ensure that the members had not been involved in the subject matter of the appeal.
